SPI to Zetec or Duratec

Since there are several threads about this kind of swap but no one actually attempting it and keeping us updated (from what i see) im going to go ahead and post now.

I have a 2002 Focus Sedan SPI, and am currently in the market for a job, to be able to afford this swap.

Once I allocate the money required ill probably be looking for a Zetec, since they seem to be the easiest to swap with (as i have read), how much am i looking to spend on the swap, and how much more would it be if i switched from a ATX to an MTX? (because i am assuming you have to replace a tranny when you replace an engine block).

(BTW labour cost is not going to be an issue, i have friends who work at an autoshop who will do it for free)

If im not mistaken this will be a good choice because the SPI pushes 110bhp and the Zetec pushes 160bhp and has many more bolt-ons and other things made for it.

Thanks for your time

Edit: Or should i just turbo my SPI (Daily Driver)

Custom turbo'd SPI... not seen many of those.

Anyone done the duratec swap? Not sure of the OEM brake horsepower, but it is getting the "focus" in aftermarket now. Seems to be easy to break the 210whp mark with a turbo'd stock Duratec.

actually, a turbo'd duratec is pushing at 12psi with toms tuning 306hp.
thats dam good lol, makes me want to go duratec. I'm leaning towards a full svt swap tho. hehe..... Idk if you'd be needing mounts, im sure you would if u go duratec. Your going to need the tranny either way you go, fabricating the clutch pedal would probably be the only different step you'd have to take as opposed to just doing it with an Atx.
