FS CAI, replace MAF tube?

ok quick question, i made my own CAI but is pretty redneck, like most of my others, but since this is one of my newest cars i want to try and do it right. i like the focus sport intake but when i made my own i cut the MAF tube, so i would really like to buy an intake that replaces the tube instead of trying to bolt to it. does the FS use the factory MAF tube? i found a decent deal on EBay, buy the FS CAI, its 185.00 plus you get a fog light mod kit to run the foglights with the parking lights. my next choice is the AEM because that is all one piece.

Why bother if it works? I've got my home made short ram intake - I doubt the steeda one will have any gains other than aesthetics. How did you cut the MAF tube?

well focussports uses the stock maf housing, Steeda comes with a new billet aluminum housing, and nice heat sheild, but is a sri short ram, which you wont have to worry about any water getting in the intake, i had a few problems with that when i had a focussport, some condensation got on the maf and screwed it up so i went with the steeda, and couldnt tell any performance difference between the two.

Haha well I pulled out the factory air filter set up, because I wanted to see what it was all about, and once I got it out I was too stuburn to put it back together the way it came apart, so I ran up to home depot in my truck and picked up some dryer hose and said that will work till I have the liquid cash to buy a real one, which is now wrapped in duct tape cause the dryer tube wasnt strong enough on its own. I cut the top of the MAF tube were it bolts together so I cant really bolt the FS to it. It works but, I want to enter it in some car shows this summer and I really dont want people lookin at duct tape, its kinda embarrasing but at the time it worked for me. I also cut the tube going into the air box and mounted a k&n cone filter to it that I had laying around the house. I've only had one problem which again the duct tape fixed and has been fine ever since, but its a hack job, no two ways about it.

Ok thanks guys, I have never had a problem with water or anything with my own, so I dont see why I would all of a suden have problems with an AEM or K&N, its gonna come down to price at this point I think. I work part time for a parts place but even with my discount I can get it cheaper online and shipped.

The steeda short ram intake will be up your alley if you're looking at entering it in a car show. MAF tubes are $230+ from fast parts network. Not sure if that comes with the tube either - might want to check a wrecking yard...
