spi to v-tec swap need help

I recently lost my spi due to a rod going through the block, and the cost of the spi is so high that I started looking at the ztecs, much cheaper, but what I can't seem to find is what all I'll need to replace other then the ECU... Can anyone offer some help, it's been 2 days without her and i'm really missing her :( hmmm, so i can't quite hit the right keys tonight... I've read all this forum seems to offer for going from the sohc to dohc and nothing but put downs and complaints... there are some of us that really can't go buy a newer vehicle just cause we lose one... if one can buy a great used engine for under a grand why ask the stupid questions on why do it that way... I love my car, But I'll never buy another focus ever... So if one can actually say what is all needed to be done to go from the 2.0L sohc to the 2.0L dohc then please reply, but if all you're gonna say is spend more for this and spend more for that, don't bother... I just want to go with a cheap ztec just for the sake of having a car to get to work...

Lot of work...custom engine mounts, custom axles, replacing the shifter and cables, rewiring the gauge cluster to work with the new ECU, etc...

Be better off going with something that comes out of a Focus...

Well do you mean VTEC or Zetec?

The VTEC is out of the question if you don't have the dough. The Zetec can be done but you're still looking at a bunch of stuff to change out anyway. If you can't do most of the work yourself then it's not worth considering IMO because you will be charged so much for labor.

i have been contiplayting the idea of in the future, dropping a k20 into my car... that bish would really scream!

ive already contiplated, stand alone management, axles, shifters, mounts, exhaust, header, intake, wiring, so if your planning to go to vtec, thats what ive come up with...

but if you are talking about zetec, then thats another story.

tranny, axles shift cables, shifter
zetec passenger side motor mount
zetec exhaust header and flex
engine accessories if your motor doesnt come with them
various cooling hoses

you basically need to plan on a tranny and engine swap along with ecu and your gauges

now are y'all talking about manual transaxles or both manual and automatics? As far as I know, there are 2 different manual transaxles and only 1 automatic.... maybe I'm mistaken...

the zetec only runs the mtx75 thats the cheapest, if you want the svt's getrag then thats quite a bit more. but both bolt up to it. if you can find a donor car it would be best becuase you cna pirate a lot of the components off it and then jsut part out the rest.
