How hard to replace side view mirror

My wife just called me and stated someone knocked her side mirror lose. She went to ford and they said it would cost like 200.00 bucks to order it and fix it. How hard is it really to change this. It does have power mirrors as well. I am thinking that the side panel just needs to come off and you will have access to it.

It's very easy to do. The black cover inside pops right off. Pull towards steering wheel for one clip. Then pull towards back of car. Just unplug wiring and push foam out of the way. Remove bolt on mirror. ( do not drop in door! ) Then a small hex nut towards the hinges. Have someone hold mirror for you. Install is just the opposite.

That was not for the mirror all by itself. That included the mirror and installing it. Do you know where I can get it online?

Thanks.

I actually busted my drivers mirror. The dealership told me it would be $189. I got it off of eBay, the exact same stock power mirror for $16 and $15 shipping. I put it on easily and its perfect.

Just got done with my passenger side that got smashed off, bought one from a forum member for 25 bucks...

the screw thats closer to the hinges is not hex, its torx. T25 I believe.

and if your new one comes with the wiring harness installed, cuz thats the hardest part, getting the mirror cap off to access where the plugs go. I broke 2 of the 3 tabs off the cap getting it off

Yes it is a torx. I knew that. Don't know why I said hex.
