Gerry, it sounds like a switch problem. What is the history behind this problem? When did it start? Was there any trauma to the wiper control stalk? (ie. banged badly or dampened)

Definitely worth doing the quick relay swap as I mentioned above. Really is just a 10 min test.

focus wipers problem
i wen,t to ford and bought relay 19 part number f5tz14n089b and without taking everythingapart and some patience iput the new one in. sad to say wipers still the same, only working on high speed .no interm. no low speed help

never any problems in 3 yrs nothing touched on wipers just started by low speed going to acraw l and then stopped along with interm. giving up to

The wiper motors are the same from 2000-2005 for what I know of them. The Motorcraft part number is: # WM598

RockAuto defines any part that you're looking for at reasonable prices. You have more choices than just the Motorcraft part.

The wiper motor is the same for 2000-2007 model year Focuses. Here is the link to Ford Parts to find yours.

My '03 ZTW just failed safety inspection for this problem.
It occurs when you just want to have the wiper do one 'swipe' of the windshield - works normal all other times.
Guessing its a relay issue from what I read here.

<--it may say I'm a rookie, but I've changed the alternator on it & that is some trick.

...I'll be dipped, but I can't repeat the fault condition with the Ford Focus HAL-9000.

...life's easier with my '91 Geo Convertible....
