cigarette lighter issue

So here the scoop, im working a delivery job right now which uses my cigarette lighter, i tried wiring another cigarette lighter to my battery, but when i plug my radio in it, i can hear other people but when i go to press on the mic the radio will reset, it will only work properly when the car is turned on, whereas if i plugged the radio in my factory cigarette lighter it would work constant with car on or off. Any ideas how to fix this, also i tried plugging in my power inverter to the newly wired cigarette lighter and it will reset my laptop(battery is toast) when i start the car

Sounds like a poor connection somewhere in the new wiring. It's only good enough for a very small load from the description.

Sounds like a current issue to me.

It's pulling more amperage when your transmitting.

^^ Agreed
Inverters above 175watts can easily poor more then 10 amps, causing a shut down. As for your laptop not having a battery or dead battery, will cause a huge surge to be drawn at start up.
Seems you need bigger wiring/fuse to the battery or get a battery for you laptop (boot up the laptop before you plug it in as well)
