Unhappy radio shuts off, lights dim, electrical gremlin? help

Hey focus fanatics, first thread, could really use a hand with this electrical gremlin. Here is what's going on:

Started a couple months ago, the radio started shutting off and turning back on, headlights and dash lights started to dim and get bright again, a relay clicks somewhere behind the steering column or in it, on the rare occasion while driving the engine feels as if its going to stall (happens very quickly, usually while accelerating and then it will resume accelerating very shortly after) these "symptoms" have been very intermittent. happening for a couple days and then being fine for a week or two. doesn't mater if I am on a smooth surface or on a bumpy road.

I have tried giving the wiring harness under the hood a shake in case there was a corroded wire inside the harness. Battery is good. thought it might be the voltage regulator because of the seemingly irregular voltages so I replaced the alternator. This did not help, except i have not yet experienced the almost stall while accelerating. Also No codes when i hooked up a code reader/scan tool.

any suggestions or ideas of where i should look would be greatly appreciated thanks

well first is there an aftermarket stereo in the car. if yes. check all wiring and make sure harness has not been cut and wires randomly attached. if that is the case, trip to junk yard is in store for you. the relay clicking, could be a relay getting stuck, so its in the under dash panel, or underhood box. have to find out which one is clicking, and swap with a known good relay, if not, well you have to dig deeper into the electrical system. something seems to be back feeding from what you saying. any more details you can give would be great

thanks for replying! i did replace the factory radio with a kenwood after market radio. Just had to have that usb and aux port ya'know. i still have the factory radio. i will put it back in and see if there is any change. There was one connector that was plugged into the original radio that did no plug into the after market radio. Perhaps that is the connection that prevents the back feed from the radio to the rest of the electrical circuits in the car.
Ill give it a try now, and post later
cheers
