Question Vortech my SVT focus or save for a cobra?

Do you think it would be worth Vortech Supercharging my svt focus or saving to buy a cobra around a 2001-2002 model? I am really bored with the performance of my car already. Will the Vortech put a major change in how the car performs, and how it takes off with a stomp of the pedal at a steady speed?

Not to be an ass, but there is not a 2002 Cobra. . . Personally I would save for the cobra. . . or even a 2003 Mach 1 . . . Unless this is your daily driver/commuter car, then gas prices might have a say in that. The Focus is fun and all, but I find myself wanting more power, more torque all of the time and for that a V8 is hard to beat. . .

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck.

sorry forgot there wasn't a 2002 cobra. Would a Vortech charged svt focus hang with a stock 2001 cobra? I doubt it, but just wondering. What if you added a lightweight aluminum flywheel too to the focus.

SC + Aluminum Flywheel, I'm sorry to say I doubt will hang with a Corbra.

If the Vortech charged SVTF can do low 13s then it can hang with the 2001 Cobra. The 2003 Cobras however are an entirely different story.

I'm not sure what a Vortech SVTF can do (assuming all other mods and properly tuned).

I had a 1999 Cobra (with the fix) and I don't see a Vorteched Focus beating it, so I doubt it would a 2001 Cobra . . . it might be a good race though. . . .

I guess none of us are really answering your question though. . . .since we don't have Vorteched Focus.

Cobra . . . that would be my choice. . . depending on your budget, you might be able to save up and get a good deal on a used 03 Cobra with low miles. Some are already going for around $25,000. . . not too bad.

If you want a pure drag beast go get a Cobra its a drag car the Focus wasn't made for dragging its a rally car if you put a Vortech in it most likely it won't be faster then one of the newer cobra's on the strip but take them into some curves and youll stomp them

I've seen to many people buying the focus and expecting it to be a drag beast thats not what it was made for it will never be a good drag car end of story

Well, supercharging the Focus may not put you at the same level as a Cobra, but it will get you close, and for a lot less than the cost of a Cobra. Figure a used Cobra is going to cost somewhere in the 5-digit price range, right? A Vortech kit for the SVT that has everything including the cooler costs less than $5,000 at MSRP, if you add installation costs and assorted parts you'd still be way under the cost of a used Cobra. Personally I find it really amusing that you're already "really bored" with the performance of the SVT. I'm surprised you haven't crashed and/or totalled your car - I haven't forgotten the stories you told about your driving.

Bored with the performance of the SVTF??

In a straight line... maybe? But I guarantee you that YOU will give up long before the SVTF in the twisties! It's like with motorbikes (I know motorbikes), it's all about the rider/driver! I have seen guys beat up SV650's beating the crap out of brand new R1's (insert you favorite high end sports bike).

Sorry for going off on a motorbike tangent but I think the point is relevent!

Straight line drag = Cobra
1 mile run through the twisties = SVTF (any day!)

I guess it's a case of what is fun for you. I get my kicks from driving fast (rally style) in the turns, others like dragging!

Hey, there are even some people who like watching cars driving around in circles! I think they call it NASCAR... weird!

They don't always go in circles. There are 2 road-course races.
Frankly, I wish there were more though.
