High Flow Cats will be allowed in STS in 2008

Thought you guys running in STS might be interested in this. Effective 1 Jan 2008, high flow cats will be allowed. Here's a copy of the wording going into the rule book for next year.

Quote:
E. Catalytic converters may be replaced by aftermarket units. Replacements must:

1) Be certified for use in that vehicle application by the manufacturer or reconditioner,

2) Bear correct EPA-mandated labeling,

3) Be of the OE quantity and type (i.e. oxidation, three-way, etc.) and

4) Be used in the same location(s) as the OE converter(s).

This does allow for high performance replacements, provided they meet all restrictions herein.
If you have questions, here's a link to a discussion on the topic...

2) Bear correct EPA-mandated labeling
^^^That will be the clincher.
I don't believe there are any HFCs for the fOCUS that are EPA approved.
That's a rather pricey proposition for the manufacturer to get approval.

I was going to contact CFM about this and see if the Magnaflow cat they use has this label. I thought they might be able to check the RT cat as well.

I was looking around and Catco makes a high flow cat that is EPA legit (with the markings and all). Do a search, I don't wanna publicize the one horse site I saw one on.

Since it is EPA legal, is it really going to increase HP in a car?
