*STREET* 97 Aerostar XLT vs Accord

So my parents moved to northern Alabama, at first the moving company was telling them that they'd take everything. On the day of the move, it seemed like they didn't want to take anything. I ended up having to drive the Aerostar from Memphis to Elkwood and back 2x this week. Tuesday night I was heading back on US 72 which passes through Corinth MS and about 7 red lights there. The last one outside town is in a 55mph zone.

Well, about the middle of Corinth this guy in an early 90's or late 80's pop-up headlight Accord pulls up in the right lane. I took off, and this guy just goes like hell, fart can roaring. Even my wife was saying "What is that guy doing?" Of course, he gets caught at the next light, and the next light and the next light. There was another car behind me who was doing the same thing, I think maybe they wanted to race each other, or were going to the same place together. It was one of those old Mitsu, small cars, similar to the Dodge Colts. I wasn't even giving the van gas, y'know, just taking off in a normal fashion, so I'm laughing the whole time because these guys just can't overtake my pole position.

To give the full idea. My Aerostar is the big one, and in 97 Ford finally upgraded the 4.0 to the fast burn heads that had been in trucks since 95. Boy did that make a difference. I've had an earlier, smaller version of this van before, so I was completely surprised when my wife and I did an acceleration test and smoked tires.

At the last light on the edge of town, I just had to be bad
I couldn't take it any more. I took off very slowly so the Accord had a lead, and the Mitsu was beside me. Then I let the van go. The tires squealed all the way through first gear, and ripped second just as I was beside the Accord again. He shifted, but it didn't do him any good. There was no way they were going to catch the van. I was laughing so hard I nearly spilled my coffee.

Anyway, be careful of those 97 4.0 Aerostars- even the big ones. I know the van is quicker than my 05 ZXW. You don't want to be horribly embarrassed while you're cruising town with your girl like these two guys were

nice, my parents had one was a 90 so it wasnt the fastest, and my friend had one did a 0-60 in 13 seconds lol but yea you have the fast one, and i like them it a comfy van, and i bet them guys pooped there pants

lol. you reminded me of my grandpa's 16 passenger e-250 form the 80's. it had a 460 wiht a c6 and my grandpa got it built to scoot. the thing was hilarious. it was truly the king of the road, especially when he had enough power to smoke the 31 inch tires he got for it.
