Getting A Remote Start

I recieved a remote start for my 2001 Focus as an early christmas present, and am getting it installed next week. I was told I needed a remote start, bypass module, (both of which were purchased) and an extra key (which I have to get). I've got an extra key, but it doesn't start the car, it just gets me inside.

Is this normal, that I'll need an extra key for the remote start, and how much can I expect to pay for a spare programmed key? Why can't they just use the key I already have?

No, it's automatic transmission.

the spare key is probably for the bypass.

you can contact Mike in the Hilbish Ford forum for a FORD bypass module. the Ford part does not require a new key, and from what he told me its a bit easier to install.

did you know that there is a remote start available from Ford for our Foci? and its on the cheap{thumb]

I didn't know that (Wish I did). This one was purchased as a gift for me. I just need to get a new key programmed (my spare key just unlocks the door). How much do those usually run?
