I would guess that it helps the rattle AND the sound. It might allow the bass to be more responsive and hit a little harder. Just a theory.

Well, I'll do this if it reduces or eliminates rattle. That's the problem I'm having right now.

Would adding cotton inside the baffles as well have any added effect or is it not a good idea?
