take some tire pressure out of ur tires, it should help a bit....i usually leave when the 2nd yellow is about to go out, but i have an auto, so its easier to launch....just practice my friend

R/T's have absolutely no effect on your quarter mile time. So that really doesn't matter. Your 60ft is probably the slowest I've ever seen, and that has a HUGE effect on your time. So yes, work on the launch and you'll chip away at that time.

Read this carefully, unless your car has drag radials, do not lower your pressure like it is one, it will yield worse 60' times.

Yeah, you need to go redeem yourself. It shouldn't be too hard to hold at a certain RPM range.

I've launched SVTF's before, and while the zx3 is easier, it is still very do-able.

beantown, you go to the track in Epping? I jus took my SVT there for the first time the other night and had similar results....dont feel bad, ive heard from a lot of people (and in the thread) that the focus is difficult to launch. if it makes you feel any better, My first run ever was against a 97 camaro SS that ran aolid 13.7s (what he had done for mods i dont know, but he fit into the "must wear helmet" catergory they have there)

lemme know next time you go up, i felt like a lonely focus as well, maybe we can battle it out and show some ppl what the focus can do

Yeah Dave,
Lowering tire pressure in the stock tires will have a minimal effect at best. You should be able to get down to 2.4 or 2.5 with a little practice, 2.2 is tough on the stock tires..
Okay, after you light the second stage light, watch the three yellows, specifically the second one down, as you see it begin to dim ( go out) you should leave, or perhaps as late as when you see the third light begin to come on....do not wait for the green, way to late... You will get better, that is what makes it so fun, its cheap weekend fun..
Let us know how you do next time
