Check Engine Light on again! Possible Lemon?

My car has been having check engine lights on and off since I bought the car (first one was at about 800 miles). I took it in, waited 2 hours to find it was diagnosed as a bad MAF. They didnt have the part, had to order it so I made an appointment for the following week, again waited 2 hours for them to install a MAF (should be a 10 min job tops). This was a week and a half ago. Check engine light came on again tonight driving home from work.

This car has been nothing but problems since I got it, transmission shifts like crap, check engine lights constantly, and it rattles on the inside. The flippin windshield was making creaking noises a few days ago when it got really cold out. Not to mention is sucks in the snow. Has anyone else had similar problems with theirs right after they bought it? I would not expect all these problems from a brand new car with 3700 miles on it. If something isnt done about this, i'm thinking about declaring it a lemon. This is my first Ford and could be my last.

3700 miles? It's a brand new car, sometimes they have quirks and need "broken in". That and it's an economy car, if it's an auto then I've heard they aren't the smoothest, it's cold alot of cars make creaking. It's under warranty, I'd try a different dealer truthfully. 2 check engine lights isn't cause for alarm though, an annoyance yes and I understand a brand new car you would hope wouldn't have problems. My car when I got it, 24K miles went through a stint of alot of repairs briefly and has been very reliable since.

The check engine light has been on twice for the MAF. Its came on probably 6-7 times at least since I bought it. Its a 5 speed. It doesnt always want to stay in gear or sometimes even go into gear with the clutch to the floor. It jerks back and forth under light throttle and coasting. I can understand some of the creaks but the one coming from the windshield and the rear hatch is just disturbing.

well the MAF and the not staying in gear thing sound like a problem, for the MAF I agree with BMXer try a differant dealer it may be an issue with the ecu needing a reflash or possibly the wiring before the MAF. the jerking feeling under light throttle sounds like the crap us SVTers deal with, heard a good tune will help that but idk I think the comp is just to dumb to know how to maintain a slow speed and not just go faster LOL

try a new dealer see if they can solve your problems

I also have a check engine light question...

mine came on a few days ago...ended up needing 3 new spark plugs. i assumed that was the only problem, but the light never went off. does it need to be reset??

The transmission popping out of gear more than likely means the shift cables need to be adjusted. I had my Focus in and out of the dealer three or four times for that problem before they got it straightened out, and I haven't had any issues with it since.

The CEL coming on a few times doesn't mean its a lemon. For a car to be a lemon it has to have major mechanical issues that a dealership has fixed a number of times and it keeps coming back. Find another dealership, sounds like the service department at the one you're going to either sucks or is run by a bad manager who makes the mechanics half-ass warranty repairs.

Oh gotcha...that does seem a bit much for a new car. The CEL for the MAF twice prolly means it was a dealer error or somethin. I agree with SKA though, sounds like your cables need adjusted. The jerking is a problem alot of focus' have and is only really cured with an aftermarket ECU tune. For the hatch you can try and adjust the bump stops out, that worked on mine cause it was creakin alot for awhile. Good luck man, hope it works out for ya

You may as well get over the windshield creak when its cold out.... there are MANY, MANY cars that do it... its purely a physics thing.

I had a $35k Cobra that the windshield would make a creaking noise when you first started moving it in cold weather.... its just something cars do.
