Compound Boost

I have just been reading in Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords about a company that is setting up a compound boost system for the modular Mustang V-8s. Their test application has an 03 Cobra supercharged engine and uses twin 66mm Turbonetics turbos to produce 1188 rwhp and 1021 ft/lbs of torque.

The article states that compound boost can be done on any roots-style supercharged engine. I am wondering if this can be/has been done on the Zetec engine with either the PWSC or JRSC, as both are roots-style SCs?

It's just 'twincharging'

anything can be done with enough money usually the supercharger is there to make up for the turbo lag. it would be a total waste of money on a small motor, muchless a ze/duratec imo.

You can do whatever you want if you've got the cash. I believe there was a user who twin charged an SVT awhile back. Although a properly sized turbo will probably make more power and be more reliable and cheaper.

they tired doing this on CobaltSS/RL cars, but they had trouble with the tuning. There was one that got running for alittle (you can youtubr or streetfire the video) but i dont remember what it put down or anything.

Many GrandPrix GTP people do it becuase they have more cylinders to spool a large turbo for up top and keep the s/c for down low.

There was someone trying it a few years back. I don't think they ever got finished.

Detroit diesals do this everyday. There are some dual blower -turbo set-ups on diesal buses here in town. It does work, but its easier to just run a well tuned turbo.

So... no point on a 4 cylinder because of the number of cylinders or the size of the cylinders?

no point because they don't have one lol

twin turbos can work well on a 4 cly. the best setup would be a Sequential twin turbo, basically a small fast spooling turbo that works off the lower rpm range then at haigher rpms it pushes compresed air to a larger turbo for more top end boost
