auto transmission question
i have a 2000 zx3 atx. i know that its not the ideal racecar, but its all i have. my question is off the line when i slam on the gas the car almost seems to want to stall out before it gets going. my question is is there a mod i can do to stop this. i heard the chip works well or maybe a torque converter. any ideas will help. thanx.

thats also due to the TB and intake manifold; the Focus was designed as a commuter car, and was made to have good stop-and-go characteristics; its partly hte auto, but its other stuff too. Nothing a few mods can't fix

If you are running the stock intake or a short ram (SRI), it's summer and you are likely experiencing the effects of heat more than anything. Being in Texas, this is highly likely.
See if the car acts the same early in the morning/late at night as it does during the afternoon. |

Sounds to me like the results of using a short ram intake in summer. Stock doesn't give me this problem. You should be able to powerbrake it up to around 2.5-3k RPM and get going pretty quick.

i drive an atx as well and the best way to launch is to push the brake in hard with with the left foot and then raise the rpm's up to about 2500 and when it goes green let go of brake and floor gas and keep it floored.
