quite easy and shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes to swap them all out

Clutch pedal slipped off? Is there fluid on the clutch pedal? Sounds like your master cylinder is leaking.

Slightly different question about the pedals.

Anybody notice a lot of lateral play in the clutch pedal and brake pedal? There are bushings there, but it seems designed to allow more play than I would like (side to side). Tried tightening them with no improvement.

I guess I am just used to Porsche pedals. For one they are mounted at the bottom, so the hinging is far more natural, and the throws are shorter. Where this is most apparent is in the throttle. Touch it and it responds. We have a rather larger moment of inertia to overcome with the hinge so high up.
