Question V6 swap tech. questions

So I have gone the turbo route, lost an engine, rebuilt the engine and was planning to re-turbo but have changed my mind. I had a ride in a SVT Contour with a Duratec 30 shortblock from a Taurus and was extremely impressed. I saw no dyno proof, however after searching about the Duratec 25 head/intake on 30 shortblock on the net I believe the owner when he said that it made 215whp and 5 less torque, it had amazing pull at only 2000rpm. According to some of the kit car websites a complete Duratec 30 weighs only 30-40lbs more than a Zetec (probably the same weight as all my turbo gear.) With that said I found a Cougar, SVT Contour that still had the MTX, and a Taurus in a local junkyard - I had the drivetrain and wiring quoted for just under $1000.

Here are my questions:

From what I have read the Focus axles pop right into the Contours MTX, however one person mentioned they had to swap the shifter cables and shifter. That person was swapping into an SVT Focus(Getrag.) Since the shifter is missing from the Contour, and I have an SVT Focus, I am wondering if a Focus 5 MTX shifter/cables will work or if you must use the SVT Contour shifter/cables?

My next question is about the air conditioning. I prefer to retain the a/c, and I am trying to find out if it is actually possible? I haven't found any info on this.

Final question is about the wiring and use of Cougar gauges. Is this simply replacement of the harnesses with plug'n'play connections or will I have to break out the schematics and splice?

Thanks for reading.

Check out Focussalvage.com - Jeremy installed a SVT contour v6 into a zx3 focus. I think the shifter cables from the focus MTX will fit the contour MTX tranny.

I am fortunate enought that the engine bolts up to a MTX 75 which I had, and my stock cables will work

AC is is retained on mine, just have to bend tubing a little, AC stays in same relative location

I bought the storied V6 car from the gentleman who acquired it from Focus Salvage - but I want this lump transplanted into a wagon. Too bad I couldn't get all of you together to help me do that and to take notes about what we take apart and put back together.

I had a question about this swap, would a getrag 6 speed tranny fit on a 2.5? I believe it won't

I think it will .... but might have to do some modifications to the clutch / flywheel.
