Angry Idle Air Control Valve?

Can someone please tell me where I can find the IAC valve. I need to clean out the built-up carbon. My manual is stalling everytime I come to a stop and it is getting annoying I have a 2000 Focus SE, if someone can send me a pic or something that would be great. My email is KRayKeeling@hotmail.com, or if you could tell me how to get to it!!! Thanks a lot.

I have the same problem bro, and I can't find it either. Is your battery/alternator light on?

Hey, isn't that a pain in the a$$? I hate it, anyways, just my check engine light is on. That's about it. They told me it was my Mass Air Flow sensor, I replaced it and it was still stalling every time I slow down. But the other reply says the IAC valve is between the intake manifold and the engine. There is probably built-up carbon you need to clean out, if you find it before I do, good luck bro. Hope it works

Hm thats weird, my check engine light isn't on, but the battery one is. To keep it from stalling at stoplights and stuff I have to put it in neutral, put on the e-brake and keep my foot on the gas. I must be gettting like 16mpg now
If I can't find the IAC valve by friday its going to the dealership.

How would you go about cleaning it? WD-40 or electrical cleaner? Just wiping inside it?

From what I gather, you are supposed to take carburetor cleaner in the aerosol can and spray it into the holes of the IAC valve and it should clean it out. That sucks about your gas mileage, my gas mileage is still okay... for now (knocking on wood)

the dealer one is a hundred some dollars to replace...but they also have an aftermarket one for around $80....usually worth replacing it intsead of trying to clean it!

Do you know where it is? I know it is somewhere between the intake manifold and the engine, I'm looking and can't find this thing... I don't even know what it looks like

If you stand on the passenger's side of the car and look in near where the EGR tube enters the Intake Manifold, the IAC is kind of tucked underneath the throttle body in between some runners on the manifold. I've heard that its a PITA to get to and you're going to take it off, your best bet is to get a brand new on to replace it. Once it starts to take a crap, its only a matter of time before it goes out completely...
