differences between auto and manual zetecs
Coming from the Honda world, I'm used to there being (on occasion) differences between the auto and manual versions of the same engine. Like an auto b16 has slightly wussier cams than a manual b16, sometimes the pistons are different, etc. Are there any major or minor differences between the engines themselves in an auto vs. manual focus?

Engine is the same, but with approx 30 hp less due to the drive train loss having the automatic tranny

I've heard the ATX Zetec is rated around 10 hp less than the MTX Zetec.

The engines are the same. Identical. The driveline is where the power loss comes in.
Both engines are rated at 130hp at the crank. The manual will put, approximately, 115hp of that to the ground. The automatic will put down a little over 100hp. Other than that, they are the same.

get some synthetic trans fluid (amsoil) *cough* and an sct tune, Im waiting for the latter of the two

Engine Hp is all talk ok.
2.0L manual 130hp/96Kw on the dyno made 103Hp/76Kw stock 2.0L Auto 115Hp/85Kw on the dyno made 98Hp/73Kw with Steeda air intake 1.8L manual 115Hp/85Kw on the dyno made 101Hp/75Kw stock Also I beleive that the timing is out on the stock motor or it's how it been dyno on the day. My Focus wasn't push hard at all, got it up to 93mph/150km. I should of lost alot more being auto????

Early Foci had less than accurate stock timing. On average, an MTX Zetec will make more than 103hp at the wheels. That is more on par with where an ATX would be.
Are those numbers for a Zetec for sure? Sounds more like an SPI.
