CVSCC Autocross was AWESOME!!!

As you read, it was my first one...and it was freakin AWESOME!!! Only downside was it started raining right before I got my runs in, and I forgot an umbrella for my girlfriend haha so she had to try to stand under my friend's umbrella.

I improved 7 seconds over the course of my first 4 runs. Beat an SRT-4 by 2 seconds! Guess I shouldn't be surprised by that--I've heard they aren't handling cars, and the guy said in the rain he could hardly keep from spinning. And others I'm sure, just didn't have a chance to study the results because of the weather. Only ran one heat...I could have stayed to run the second but the girlfriend was wet and cold and didn't want to stay, and a lot of people were leaving anyway since the rain was just not letting up.

All kinds of crazy cars were there, including an OMNI TURBO!!! Haha...thing was trikin' through all the corners. 2 Vipers, one a brand new SRT-10, and also an SRT-10 RAM haha...couldn't believe they were running a truck through the course but hey, I guess it's fun no matter what you drive. A COUPLE of Starions...they are rare and 2 were there. Too bad the DMC wasn't there.

The course was apparently a very close duplicate of the 2006 Nationals course. The whole last run was a descending slalom (is that what they call it? the cones were closer and closer together). I might be able to link or scan a map of the course if anybody cares.

Also soon I will have pics, and maybe even videos, if I can get them transferred somehow.

I welcome myself to the world of autocross . I feel bad though...used a guy's blue tape and never had a chance to give it back. I gave him a buck for it anyway...haha and if I go to another event I'm sure I'll see him and give him a brand new roll.

I can't believe they let that truck run...
I guess in the rain it would slip before flipping anyway though. You've got a lot of heavy hitters out there and it sounds like the rain saved your butt from those hi-performance cars.

im really surprised a truck was running, a few clubs around here dont even let scion xB's run cause its 'dangerous.' (they guy who drives it is amazing too, beats me by about .5 every time). I'm SO glad you had a great experience!! welcome to the AX world, and have a blast doing it!! now lets see some photos!

AS for the truck. If the SCCA guide lists it in their class registry, then it is legal to run. The last time I went looking, the only trucks that were allowed to run were the GMC Cyclones...

Anyway...

Haha yes, I did. And she was happy to go ...she just wishes it was nicer out, as do I. But my times are still pretty dang good.

I guess a Ram SRT-10 is legal also...either that or they just wanted to see what it would do.

And thanks for your help Wee...that advice about over-inflating the tires was very much appreciated. A guy told me that he saw a guy leave an ax event with a tire dismounted from the rim because it wasn't inflated enough.
