Another 2008 road test (Inside Line)

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...topanel..2.*#2

"The coupe and sedan are now the only choices you get in the Focus, as the previous Euro-style hatchback and wagon never moved the needle on buyer enthusiasm in the U.S., Ford tells us."

What a CROCK! Probably 2/3rds of the Foci I SEE are hatchbacks! Duh.

"The 2000 Focus came to America, with the blessings of Ford's best ride-and-handling experts, an alert, alive and exciting package that set the standard for small cars from America, Europe and Japan. But since then, fewer and fewer people seem to care about such things beneath a Ford badge..."

Maybe because the 2005 facelift was so damn HOMELY!? Duh, Ford, duh.

"All the things that made the original Focus a unique driving experience have been firmly pushed aside, leaving behind a small American-built (Wayne, Michigan) car that's unlikely to be a passionate purchase for anyone."

Sad, sad, sad, sad, SAD...

Yep, that is CRAP! I checked the inventory of several of the Denver metro, and Front Range Ford dealerships, and most of the Foci left are sedans. My dealershp bought 180 Foci in December. They went 50/50 sedan vs.hatch As of this morning, they have 12 left. Ten are sedans, and two are hatches.

The difference between the hatch and the sedan is that when people buy a hatch, they keep them alot longer and dont wanna get rid of them. Oh and im sorry ford, Idk if you can include sedan sales to fleets, cause thats not really fair. Honestly thats probably it, most rental companys bought sedans, and we all know that fleets love ford products.

Who are you building cars for Ford....the People, or the Rental companies.

Review isn't bad at all, not sure why we are consistently bashing the 08 Focus.

i actually sent an email to ford about 3 months ago and they said they havent completly dropped the hatch, they r releasing the sedans and coupes first to see if they will take off, so they dont waste there money on 4 different vehicles, they would rather test out 2 for the first year or 2 then look at the possibilty of engenering a hatch.
so lets all pray

Interesting. Let's see what happens.

I see many fans here love the hatchback, I'm a sedan person, but I recognize the achievement of the hatchback, a classic.
