A/C Question

I was driving my car today i had the a/c on, an when i pushed the button for max a/c i thought the blower motor output was suppose to increase? I remember on my old Taurus it did when i turned the knob to max a/c. Or like the manual says, max a/c setting just recirculates the air in the cabin making it cooler. Any takers?

It will increase if you hit the recirculate button with the a/c on.

All the recirculate button will do is take air from the cabin, run it through the heater core (for heat) or the evaporator (AC) and back into the cabin. It has no effect on blower speed whatsoever.

Mine definately changes speed when I use the recirculate button. I'll use it alot of the time without using the a/c.

X2 Jetrinka. When the recirc button is enabled, the air inlet door actuator closes off air from the outside entering the passenger compartment. I am paraphrasing from the ford manual. Hence, it is not a blower motor issue, it is that the air inlet door actuator is not functioning.

When the inlet door is closed the fan makes more noise, but the motor speed is not increasing.

Now if you're noticing no change at all, then you might have a door actuator issue. Typically this causes cold air on the passenger side, and warm air on the driver's side because the door opens up to the heater core a little. Our heater cores are always circulating- and the temp door is what directs air around the heater core. Air always blows over the evaporator.

Thats interesting because I am still getting good cold air out of all my vents, I guess I am going to have to do some investigating on this. I suppose the air inlet door is buried behind the dash right?

Just drop your glove box down and you'll be looking at it. Hit the recirculate button and you can watch the door cycle back and forth.

when you turn on max ac the fan speed DOES NOT increase. the recirculate door is opening and it is making the fan sound louder because the fan is right behind the door that just opened. plain and simple. THE FAN SPEED WILL NOT AND SHOULD NOT INCREASE.
