After 9 hours yesterday with a patient Tom and Tom, Jr., my "engine dies with clutch in from higher revs" is much improved. Part of Tom's program was to reduce rev drop off speed, and change the kick in speed for the idle control circuit (Tom, please correct me if I'm wrong). It will still die if my road speed/gear is higher (eg., 60 mph in 5th, then clutch in), but from speeds more normal to approaching a stop light, it now seems to be working correctly. More driving time will tell, but 6 hours behind the wheel to get to Tom's and back, plus dyno time, is enough for a day or two.

Mine has been doing this for a while now. I get the surging, the battery light flicker, the almost stall out, the complete drop of revs then the CEL come on and the car finally dies. This just happened to me so I did what I knew to do; I reset by unplugging the battery for a bit. Connected it back and it turned on again. 2 blocks later it died again so I tried it again and this time the car would not start at all. I turned the key and all I got was 4 dashes across my tripmeter and odometer. Now Im gonna have to go later and pick it up where it left me stranded. Im gonna try changing the fuel filter and other things that everyone has said here.

Ok I left my car overnight where it died with the battery disconnected. Got up early and connected it back and it started right up. Everything was fine I let it warm up, started driving it slowly going good then I steped on the gas, it got up to about 4K RPM and it just bogged. The RPM's stayed where they were but no acceleration, then it just died; What is going on??? I turn the key on and all I get in the Odometer is four dashes where the numbers are supposed to be??? What does that mean??? Whats wrong with my car??? Any help please.

My car does not turn on anymore, everything lights up but the engine does not crank. I get four dashes ---- where the tripmeter and odometer are, no mileage numbers come up. Everything seems fine on the car but it just does not crank.

It sounds like your ECU went kaput.

Mine started doing that right before the first 02 sensor went out.

However, I was answering the first post.

Raziel510 it sounds like your car has a more serious problem. If the ECU was out in his car I don't think his dash would be showing anything. Has your clutch been difficult to engage lately, any grinding on first starts? The flywheel may have separated and is keeping the engine from cranking. I am just curious as to what exactly happened when you got on it until 4k RPMS.

Or

You have an electrical problem.

The stealership looks like it will be getting a visit.

hmmm well I do have to really push the clutch a few times all the way down in order for it to turn on. When the engine is cold(in the mornings) it has been a bit difficult to engage first gear. What happened when i get to 4k rpm is that the car stops accelerating, the rpms drop to zero, you can hear it reving but no acceleration. Then the car just dies, tried resetting the ECU by disconecting the batter for a half hour, worked but then died again shortly after when I was driving it and hit 4k rpm. Now i just get the four dashes ---- across the odometer and tripmeter.

if you know somebody else with a SVT see if you can get them to swap computers to see if that is the issue but it does seem that your PCM took a crap.
