SVT owner rents a 2.0L ZX-3

Edit; originally thought car was 2.3L, correction noted

I was visiting my family in the town I grew up in, Sitka AK. I asked the rental agency what was the least expensive model they offered. They told me that their least expensive model was a two door focus, but unfortuantely it was a manual transmission model, and would cost $35 a day to rent. This is a smoking deal in small town Alaska. I'm a big fan of manuals, so this was a win-win deal.

The car was an 06 or 07 in a nice bright yellow. Right off the bat I missed my Recaros. The new style dash is functional, but bland. It took some getting used to the placement of reverse in the shift pattern, and the shifts felt a little long, and not quite as solid as my Getrag, but still felt pretty good.

What did feel great was the motor. Compared to my SVT it felt like it had another cylinder when taking off. Nice Torque. Sitka is a small town, with the highest speed limit being 45mph I didn't get to run the car very hard. My final assesment is that that the car was fun and solid, while being easy on my wallet.

A rental place with a manual transmission model, that is rare.

sorry to disappoint you dude but unless they did an engine swap, that is the 2.0 d20 duratec good at 135 horses. The gearing is low so it is quick off the line.

Manual's as rental must be rare. This is the 1st time I've encountered one.

This is a smooth engine, I would have to agree. Maybe a little "mild mannered" though.

As far as displacement, looks like a newbie mistake on my part. Sure felt nice and torquey. 1st Duratech I've driven BTW.
