Unhappy Paint chipping of the hood; and need advice for alternatives.

My focus is starting to chip some paint of; It was caused by 18 wheeler on Interstate 10 in my area of california, with there flying debris and rock, and some heat from under hood in the desert... over a period of time of travelling my hood is starting to be noticeable with the chips. The rest of the car paint is flawless except for the hood.

And were talking about little pieces of paint chips round about 14+ chips isolated on the hood, there was only a few chips when I bought the car.

Now I made some alternatives so that I would end this nightmare once and for all.

1) Take the hood of and go to my local auto body shop and have them to sand the entire hood and put a fresh coat of paint. (Get a Quote)

2) By a carbon fiber hood, although I really don't want to for 300 dollars +

3) Go to some random junkyard and find a hood... particulary black and assume everthing is flawless.

4) Or leave it the crap alone.

Please state ur oppinion and why should it be necessary for me.... Please, Please, Please be honest!

Video Update

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2GqG6e64B0

Ok theres the url and this was done to the best of my ability.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update information for 8/28/07.

Went to my local bodyshop, nice and friendly people.
I have the guy examine my hood, and he said that he needs to take the whole hood of to respray the hood..... He also said something about Siver has no pigments or something. But the sad news is it's going to cost around $1K to do it.

So im going to go with plan......B or something and buy a carbon fiber hood, I think it might look good in silver. And Im planing to keep the car for a very long time, even if the whole car goes ciput.

I would say take it to a body shop and have them spray it. Also tell them to lay the clear coat on pretty thick. that should help protect it in the future. My hood is starting to do the same thing, im gonna wait till i get my body kit before i spray it. and yup im gonna try to paint my car myself. ill practice on my 53 customline and my sisters truck.

There is a company in this area that does paint touch-ups, I'm not sure if its a national company or not. Its called Colors on Parade, and we use their service at our dealership. The guy that does the touch ups here does a kick ass job. I had him fix a scratch on my car two years ago, and you still can't see any signs of being touched up.

I can't say which of the 4 choices you should pick, but if you choose to get it repainted, you might want to consider what I have, a Lund x-Terminator deflector, to ward off future rock and bug assaults. I'm not using it now and it's in nearly new condition, still with the original box. Here's a picture of my wagon with it attached to the front edge. PM me if interested, I'll make you a deal.

A color-matched bug deflector probably wouldn't look too bad.
