Volvo S40 2.5T into a focus

Has anyone thought... Since the euro focus uses the 2.5T in the S40.. if we could grab an engine out of an S40 and plug that into the engine bay.. just an idea.. dunno bout the tranny though..

there are some challenges... you would have to get the engine here from europe... or find its counterpart in USDM... and i dont know if it is over here... and if it is... is it turbo'd or not? if not then you'll have to have a turbo added to the price...

then there is the engine mounts, harness and ECU to deal with after that...

at that point i would say... it would probably be ALOT easier and cheaper just to get FS's stage 2 turbo kit and build your bottom end alittle and put 300hp to the ground in a USDM foci

----

i dont know if this is the same unit as the euro ST but heres one on ebay:

it seems pretty compact... and im sure the extra .5L will give the fofo a huge punch in da nutz to any civic or anything..

basically, don't do it unless you're one of those folks with more money than you've got brains...though it would be awesome...

Hmm.. Thanks for the input.. I personally have NO money.. haha so turbo or engine swap would be out of the question for now.. I just wondered if anybody had done it or thought about it.. as a sort of Euro ST clone..

it'll be far from a clone... it'll be a custom car... the euro st is an Mk2... our chassis is still labled as an MK1 counterpart... our "MK2" is the 08 focus

Not to get off topic but I read recently that the "Mk2 '08+" American Focus is NOT riding on a different chassis. I understand why they're saying its going to be second generation, totally different exterior, different interior and a new body style.

BUT, IMO if you're not changing powertrain or chassis, its just a facelift!

^^^ Amen to that.

I think there comes a point where Ford N/A has spent more money developing 'facelifts' for our Focus every 3 years or so than it would just importing the design for the Mk2 Focus from overseas. Then we wouldn't have to theorize if the ST's 2.5L Turbo engine will fit ours.
