Finally did some moddifying....

I got around to doing a mod on my car...

first, I pulled relay R13 under the hood, and inserted a peice of 12 gauge wire with two crimp on terminals on the ends:

Now I have fog lights that work with the parking lights on, but no headlights:

the fog lights still work with the low beams on like they did from stock:

And if allot of light is needed, the fogs also now work with the high beams on:

I just did the same mod two days ago...except I actually modded relay itself. Looks better than the wire. But, it does the same thing.

Interested on how you modded the relay itself?

I might do the relay mod later, I'm not to worried about how the inside of the fuse box looks, but I think a modded relay would be better in the long run. I would imagine one could soldier in a small piece of copper to connect pins 3 and 5....is that what you did, JohnMichael? got any pics?

all u have to do to mod the relay itself is pop the plastic covering off, and shove a piece of wire or metal of some sort in the metal switch portion on the side...then put the plastic back on...i think, i didnt do that myself...but last time i looked in a relay, thats what it seemed to be

Sure, it's super easy. I used the cutoff end of a ZipTie and fit it into the little gap between the circuit and the body of the relay.

Should look like this when done.

Really easy, almost ridiculous.

I'm sure I can find some online guide to mod the relay itself (which now resides in my glove box) and before anyone jumps on it, yes I know its not legal to run the fogs with the high beams on at the same time....besides my HID's are so bright witht he highs on, I can't see why I would need the fogs anyway. I just did this so I could use the fogs with the parking lights.

Um, I think it's supposed to be a NON-Conductive piece of material...so NON-Metal in nature...

Wait... why can't you have fogs and high beams on at the same time?

Also, I've got the fogs and everything and tried this mod before. I can't remember if there was a relay switch in the proper slot or not but I made the wire and stuck it in and it didn't work. I then realised there's no metal connections in the slots you're supposed to stick the wire in. Anybody else have this problem?

You can do it, as in the third picture of the new set up above, but, as far as I know, it is against the law. I did not have the problem you are describing, however, I found that I had to cut off on of the spades on both sides to get it to fit, the two spades were just to wide.
