water would not have hurt your engine unless it is enough to hydro-lock it. small amount of water will be instantly evaporated. there will not be any water in the intake manifold because water under a vacuum will instantly boil away.

Yep, it's why water boils at 161* F when you're on top of Mt. Everest. Less pressure means lower boiling point. Why your blood boils in a vacuum...like out in space. So in Space Odyssey: 2000, when the guy gets the plug on his suit pulled, it wouldn't have been a pretty scene if they showed what really would have happened.

pressure doesnt make water boil. lack of pressure makes water boil. like under a vacuum.. when you are in boost the water has a higher boiler point than it other wise would... but the temp in the combustion chamber is still much higher... unless there is enough water to hydro-lock the engine then it wont hurt.

Update. The engine is in the car and axles in.
Most everything is hooked up but still have at least another day(evening) of small stuff.
I'll be running with the wastegate partly open to stay out of boost for a while to break in the engine a bit more.

A couple months ago I port-matched the turbine inlet to match the T3 port.
While the IHI turbo has a T3 bolt pattern, the actual inlet isn't matched the the square pattern.
I used a die grinder with carbide burrs to do the porting:

This time while I had the turbo off I noticed it cracking in a typical point where the IHI cracks, so I took some time to repair it.
I ground down the crack, welded it, ground it, repeat until it looked how I wanted and was stronger:

The new engine is in and running fine.
I had a couple minor oil leaks initially but they have been fixed.
Overall it took longer than I expected, but it always does.
I took the time to make a solid passenger side motor mount, but after only 25 miles put the stock one back on due to insane vibration.
The wastegate is adjusted so it's slightly open so it does not build more than a couple psi of boost for now. (and that's trying)
I'll run it without boost for a little while. I'm not sure how long.

Soon I'll tear down the old engine to see just what happened.
I'm expecting to find worn rings and a bad head gasket.
