Haha! I apologize to your wife.
Yeah I may still go with that turbo sometime.

My plans have changed again.
I swung by my local salvage yard which is typically way expensive, but I thought what the heck.
They had a 2006 D20 with 68 miles on it for $500.
It includes the exhaust manifold, intake manifold, fuel rail, injectors, COPs etc.
It was from a rollover, most likely during a test drive.
So my plan is to throw that in for now (since 10psi was fine for the stock engine, the overboost hurt it) and I'll have my current engine to take my time with building up.

I'll post a few pics in this thread of the process.

Wow, I need to move back to the mainland so I can start finding cool stuff at junkyards. Have fun with your build up! I'll be watching....

Thanks... that would be a huge help considering those two pieces are my biggest problems with it right now.

Ok update time.
I've decided to keep my turbo but I'll be making some changes.
I plan on going to a 2.5" blow-through MAF design sometime soon.
This will allow 2 things: the integrated AIT sensor will relay an accurate temperature reading, and it will eliminate the pipe that runs under my car.

Aside from an overboost problem I found another probable culprit to my engine damage: water.
I had water all through my intercooler and piping.
I have no way to tell whether it ever made it into the engine or not.
There was no water in the intake manifold however.
I've tried to keep water from getting behind the driver's side bumper but to not avail.
I'd ideally like to have my air filter in front of the battery, but I'm no sure what I'll come up with.

Yesterday a buddy of mine and I pulled the engine from my car and today we dug into the transmission.
Today I removed the diff that had the Phantom Grip unit and reinstalled my stock diff and did a few other things to ready the swap.
Tomorrow I plan on doing some other odds and ends to get everything ready, and tomorrow night the new engine should be bolted in.
By the end of the week everything should be connected and ready o fire up.

Guts. Numbers still on the rods!
