Boost Controllers

What are the advantages of getting an electronic boost controller over a manual boost controller? Besides the convenience of setting the boost level from inside the car, of course.

Do the electronic boost controllers regulate boost pressure more accurately, or more steadily?

I'm curious what justifies the $300+ difference in cost...

Thanks.

you can get a greddy profec and it will set the boost from inside the car but it is a manual control. that is the one i will be using.

An electronic controller works better, it'll let you build boost faster than a manuel controller and its consistant.

I run the GReddy Profec Type S and I love it.

electronic boost controllers tend to be more precise and consistant like
03OrangeSVT stated. Also, the high dollar EBC's allow you to match
the boost delivery with RPM, speed, and/or throttle position so you can
make nice and smooth boost curves.

So, theoretically, if you have an electronic and a manual boost controller both set at 10 psi (arbitrary), the electronic one will get you to 10 psi faster, all else being equal? How does it manage to do this?

maybe not neccesarly faster, but smoother and will hold boost through the rpm range better. Manual boost controllers tend to not hold the boost at the peak setting toward the top of the RPM ranges.

Faster is correct.... a manual controller bleeds off pressure from the waste gate (the waste gate is still opening just not as fast) while getting to your "set point"

An Electric controller keeps the waste gate SHUT until it reaches its set point.. while the wastegate is shut all of the exhaust goes through the turbo which makes it spool faster building boost quicker
