HID Blowing Fuse????
Hello everyone,
My passenger side HID is blowing the fuse I've changed it twice already. First off it has a broken clip in the back so moisture gets in. A few days ago there was a flash flood in my city and I drove through some deep water to get to work. When i took the light out and opened it up I noticed the broken tab, then I tilted it up and water all over my face. Why is my light blowing the fuse when I turn them on? When I turn my lights on I hear a slight buzzing kinda sound and then it blows the fuse. Any help is appreciated guys thanks. |

Could be the ballast or ignitor (black box that screws onto the back of the bulb.) I bought a new set of Mach HIDs and they arrived with both ballasts shot and a bad ignitor...the ignitor on the one kept blowing a fuse every time I'd turn it on. You could try swapping the ballast/ignitor from the known good headlight and see if it works. Or remove the headlights and plug the good one into the bad one's harness and see if the fuse still blows (isolate the problem to the headlight or wiring.) In electrical troubleshooting its typically a good idea to check your wiring by substituting a known good component and see if it fixes the problem, and then narrow down the issue from there. So if you plug your good headlight into the bad one's harness and it doesn't blow the fuse then you know the problem is in the headlight, and if it does blow the fuse then there's a problem with the wiring.
