COSWORTH'S Intake Manifold on 2006 2.0 Duratec

Well mates, against all odds I finally got Cosworth's Intake Manifold installed on my 2006 2.0 Duratec.
Some of you might remember my post in which I was enquiring about the relocation of the power steering reservoir. Well in 2006, Ford relocated the power steering reservoir to the front, that is, precisely on top of the power steering pump making Cosworth's Intake manifold impossible to fit.

PHOTOGRAPH PRE-INSTALLATION (observe location of P.S. reservoir)

PHOTOGRAPH POST-INSTALLATION OF COSWORTH'S INTAKE MANIFOLD (power steering reservoir moved to the rear)

The Parts required were:

1. Motorcraft STP-502 Power Steering Pump (NEEDED, the old pump will not work)
2. Reservoir assembly
3. Reservoir Bracket
4. Pressure Hose
5. The power steering fluid that best agrees with you
6. Cosworth's Intake Manifold

If you feel mechanically incline to take on this task make sure you allow yourself sufficient time. This is not my primary vehicle ergo a took my time and went cautiously slow... step by step. Replacing the Power steering pump is a straight forward procedure and I do recommend the 2006 Ford Focus Shop Manual (selling on ebay for circa US$50.00) or get it from Ford (as I did.)
The installation of the intake manifold requires patience since it is a bit of a tight operation but Cosworth provides you with a step by step instructional guide and you can always reach them over the telephone for help.

For the Duratec 2.0 it is recommended that you have it Dyno tuned rather than just reflashing the ECU with the SCT Xcalibrator 2, in order to obtained maximum gains from it.
Now, some mates oppose the idea of installing Cosworth's manifold, claiming that the stock manifold is sufficient. Maybe so but I am installing the Garrett GT28R turbo and intercooler next ergo opted for replacing the stock manifold. (Mind you that the stock manifold will work perfectly find with the Garrett turbo.) However, I assure you that the difference is felt the moment you start you engine.

Well mates I reckoned the query has been finally resolved for those of us with the 2006 version who wondered if it was possible.

G'day!

P.S. Installing this week: HotBits Rally Suspension

Damn, you don't mess around. Hotbits are uber sexy coilovers. I'll have to follow that install to see how you like them.

Your car is going to be insane.

In the second photo, look at the upper left hand corner. That yellow reservoir right next to the strut tower is the relocated PS reservoir.

So you say the difference can be felt when you start the car....but how much of a difference are we talking? Is it the 5whp or so that I got from a 500 dollar header? Lol cuz that's not worth it. But 20 ... that would be worth it I'd say.

LOL, those are more than just for looks. Those are some serious coilovers, designed for rallying and/or serious road racing.

^ It's the same motor. You'll need some mods IMO before you go to increasing spark intensity. As a general rule for the frugal rodder, spark strength is the last thing to be worried about in a project vehicle if you're building in stages. Apparently, he's ready for the turbo.
