too many registered owners?

Hi All,
Im currently in talks with a girl in UK about buying an ST170. I had the AA do an inspection of the vehicle and all checks came back satisfactory. The 1 thing that is against it, is the amount of registered owners. The car is 2002 and there has been 6 registered owners. Is this much? or do cars like this swap hands much? Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Aaron

Depends... how cute is the girl?

Just kidding, don't get stuck with the lemon! Before you buy, get a very through check of it's history.

Ye see the problem is, this car is in the UK. I had the AA guy check through. There is a full service history with the car and the girl was saying that the guy who bought the car before her couldnt afford the insurance on the car and had to sell on. Where can I get an on the spot check as I am meeting the girl tomorrow with the cash.

I'd be VERY cautious....take it to a shop on your test drive and let them give it a once over, because if you don't you'll be selling that car in another 6months and then having to eat the cost. my .02

sometimes if you switch a title between owners here in the states, you can loose potentially bad history on the vehicle. Locally we have a big salvage rebuild problem where they cover up the salvage title by switching owners and the savage branding often goes missing. Don't trust it. Does it have any airbag codes? Over spray "paint" on windows. Are every one of the creases in between the body panels even, check them against each other. Get a magnet run it oner the the cars body. Open the oil fill cap and look at the cams. Do they look shinny and silver or Varnished? Do they have recites for maintenance?
