The biggest things you have to consider are - "What applications am I looking at?"

The second is fitment. You can order online, but you are not guaranteed a tru fit until you try them on. Alos, helmet fit varies by manufacturer. So, take that into consideration.

Finally, you don't have to spend a GOZILLION dollars on a helmet. Look at your budget and go from there.

Decent "brain buckets run anywhere from $100 - $1000 depending on what you want to do.

for a helmet, find a brand that fits you. (really fits well), then pick your style and price within that brand. There was really only one brand that fit my head shape.

I opted for a full face helmet, because I can see my self down the line riding motorcycles.

For my local events, I've gotten an HJC CL-15. It's got an M2005 rating, so any clubs or activities requiring an SA rating are out. But it's comfortable, reasonably light, looks pretty good, and it was $64 shipped to my door off eBay. For my weekend warrior stuff, it's plenty sufficient.

I have an HJC CL14, i don't like it the shape is wrong for my head
but I love my Arai QuantumII, fits my shape and is WAY more quiet
but I ride a bike so I dunno about a helmet for cars
