Very silly - key stuck in car.

i was moving a lot of luggage out of my car and i accidentaly locked all my doors without taking the key out of the center armrest [ yes i know that's a stupid place to keep my key]!! it's parked in my driveway.

don't have a spare. don't have triple A. what's the cheapest/best way to get inside of the car i love dearly? :(

best bet is to try and call AAA or some police stations will get you into the car. Assuming the cops will do it its free but AAA i think will cost about 40 bucks if you dont have a card. I would get a AAA card just to be on the safe side! you never know when you might need to use it. Or if you know someone with one call em p and they can use theres

Any reputable locksmith should do...probably cost around $50.

You can contact your local dealer. If you can bring them proof of ownership and a photo ID, they can usually pull the key code and at least make a cheap key that will only open the doors. That's usually cheaper than a locksmith.

It won't help you this time but get a key made at any place that cuts keys,(it won't start the car but it will open the door), and use the smallest zip-tie you can find to attach it somewhere under your car that's easy to get to but out of sight.(I'd tell you where I put mine but then I'd have to move it) I've used mine 3 times in 2 and a half years. I still feel stupid for locking my keys in the car but at least I'm not left standing there, scratching my head, and LOOKING stupid as well!!

All the posts I was reading on here was telling me this also.

However, I found it totally the opposite. I was able to be inside my Focus in less than 2mins.

I wrapped a screw driver in a rag.

Pried the BACK SIDE of the drivers door open just enough to fit a rod though (in this instance I used the 60 in. Stainless Whip CB antenna I have on the back of my Jeep)

I ran the antenna through the gap and hit the hatch popper button on the dash. Crawled in though the back and into the drivers seat.

Now going in though the top of the door is almost impossible becuase you have to make TWO almost 90 degree turns to get into the passanger compartment. However the back side of the door doesn't have the same problem. I may have been able to do it without the screwdriver but it gave me a little extra room.

Granted this was on a hatch so the sedans may not have this option.

It appears they have "fixed" this, at least in the 2005 wagon models. My dash rear gate "popper button" on the dash is deactivated whenever the doors are locked. I figured this out when I though the button was defective, since it never would work after I stopped the vehicle. I then discovered that the button only works when the doors are unlocked.
