Exhaust Advice (FI Prep) - Shop-made or Trubendz?

I'm looking to do a 3" cat-back on my svt right now, and later (same time as going FI) Ill worry about the cat/flex.

Would you recommend getting a trubendz 3" and having a shop put it on, OR just having a shop make one from scratch?

I have no prior experience with exhaust fab, and cost is definitely a priority here. Thanks!

Agreed, I've seen some absolutely horrendous exhaust jobs that were custom-made at an exhaust shop...it usually looks like they take the pipe and beat it with a hammer to put the bends in it. Trubendz makes decent systems...I have a flexpipe from them, and while the welds aren't pretty it still gets the job done. My little brother just ordered a 2.5" with a Borla muffler from them a few days ago, I'll post my thoughts on it when it shows up.

turbo's dont like chambered mufflers that is why i went with the custom 3". tom said that the mandrel bends dont make a big enough difference for the price.

Yep, got that on the borla, at least the one that turbendz was using tapered down to 2.5" - thats just bad juju. Not all borlas are that way.

But in addition - Id like to expand on that info from Tom. He tests these bad boys all day long, and says that manrel bends arent really worth the cost. Thats quite interesting. We all know that in theory, and on paper, mandrel bends >> crush bends. BUT, if it wont equate to (significant) dyno numbers even with some high output turbos here, than Im still considering a crush-bend job at a local shop.

Anyone got any input about that?
