Smile who rallys

i was just wondering if there is anyone out there who actually rallys there car not just for fun in a dirt patch but down a dirt or gravle road or in actual events. i have heard about autox, drag, and track racing and considering the focus is one of the best rally cars out there i was just wondering who might do it. personally i haven't but then i just moved here and back home there were a few places i could have taken my car but i didn't have it. anyway just wondering.

I personally do not, but I do have a friend that does and he drives a focus.

See here for photos and more information:

You can get more information at a variety of sites.

This is a good one to start with.

I've been looking into RallyX because actual rally is a bit out of reach for a westcoast. But I'll look into that website to see if I'm wrong.

I used to rally my 1977 Dodge Monaco around my father's farm 20 years agao, but I discovered that those cars weren't quite up to the task.

beginners rally

If you're dying to do a rally but have never done on before and you don't really have any rally modifications to your car (like me), check out the SCCA Rallycross events across the country. They are spaced out both in distance and time, but they look perfect, like an autocross on the dirt. This is the one I plan on going to:

I participated in SCCA Pro Rally some years ago. I had an 82RX7 that I prepared myself. I now advise that you buy a well prepared car instead. Most are very well sorted. I had to quit when my oldest son started college. Please note that its very very expensive. You can EASILY spend or should i say have to spend in excess of 2000.00 an event. An that's poor boying it like I did. Entry fees alone are 500 to 1000.00. Add in a crew, feeding and housing them, a trailer, tow vehicle, lots of gas and you can start to see where the money just adds up. It was fun and I'd love to do it again but it doubtful now.

+1 Above

Someone much older and wiser asked me a question when I first got involved with motorsports.

"Would you like a small fortune?"

Of course I said "SURE!"

His response was -

"Start with a massive fortune and go racing."
