Nothing major, provided you don't count the pint of water I removed from the #2 cylinder after not being able to avoid puddles after 4 inches of rain in less than an hour.

Biggest thing other than the engine would have been the shifter base.

The option for warranty fixes is a real omission.

Had the MAF flake out on me, they tried not replacing it under warranty because there was water in the pipe. (I pointed out that it was a STOCK intake, and that it had to be designed poorly or defective. They replaced it under "goodwill" after I threatened to take it to corporate.)

My power steering high pressure line blew a month later, replaced no hassles.

I really love the focus. I bought it new in 01. I never really had any major issues with the car. Mostly, just maintenance (replacing sensors, filters, oils, brake stuffs, tires) and modifications.

I bought my car used, with around 65k on it to Replace a car that got totalled out back in June 2005. Sadly I had just spent almost 2k worth of work to get that previous car up to snuff and it was perfect when i pulled in front of some guy by mistake. OH well. As for my Focus (which i love), its all really been Maintenance related. Aside from the battery and 1 Set of Tires so far, Ive done:

-3 Sets of Plugs for one reason or another
-Ignition Coil
-All three Motor Mounts (my most recent accomplishment)
-Plug Wires
-Replaced Leaky Valve Cover Gasket
-Replaced Thermostat housing Gasket, Leaked again replaced whole housing, along with thermostat
-Upper Radiator hose 'sploded on me while driving home from work
-Rubber hose for PCV Valve disentegrated while trying to replace PCV Valve, had to track that down
-Just Recently Replaced a leaky foglight housing with a new pair

I think thats it. Thankfully nothing really "major" yet . And thankfully none of its happened together, its all been seperate problems (aside from the valve cover and thermo housing). Im approching 94k miles, so the timing belt and water pump and some time after the clutch are gonna be due. But its to be expected. It was a used car and although it seemed well taken care of, time and mileage takes its toll.

I voted for numbe rof costly thing but it does not sway my opinion of the car. The transmission has been my only major problems. It has had to be rebuilt 5 times in 10K miles now. it is a 2000 Focus with 81K on it. It had 67K when I bought it. The problem was something that happens sometimes no matter what vehicle you drive. The other five tear-downs was from the morons at the 1st ford dealership. Once someone who knew what they were doing took a shot at it the trans has been great ever since. My extended warranty covered everything but the deductable which the dealership I bought the car from (a chevy dealer) reimbursed me. I like the car though. Someday I plan on doing some mods to it maybe.
