My wife and I went to a self-service junk yard to find parts for our 02 Taurus and our 2k Focus Wagon. There were countless Toyotas, Nissans, Cryslers, etc. and other cars from Ford. Out of over 1,000 cars, we only found 2 Focus cars to look at. This seems to say something about the longevity of the Focus.

What sorts of problems has your Focus experienced?

2000 Focus SE Wagon 54k miles.

1) Cable on driver's power window broken; repaired by dealer.

2) Battery light intermittently on; replaced alternator & "pig-tail" wiring harness (Ford parts) by dealer. This after replacing several parts adding up to hundreds of dollars by following suggestions on this site and others.

3) Key stuck in ignition; fixed by a locksmith who said that he sees this problem in Fords 2 - 3 times a week.

So far, so good.

My 2K has 54,000 miles on it. How about your 2003? I wonder how long the CV joints last.

I have a 2012 SE and so far we still have the same transmission issue even after the recall. There is a hesitation when first starting out. Reverse has a jumping feel to it. Shifting has a blowing noise to it when going from 1st-2nd-3rd gears. No worries though still under warranty. Going back this coming Monday!

My 2013 Ford Focus Titanium automatic has had all the normal problems. Gears grinding, surging, strange noises from the engine after shut off. All checked by Ford and say to be normal for this car. Well I can't stand it any longing. I'm a Ford man with a 07 Mustang GT/CS and a 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor in the garage and several more Ford Trucks before that.
My dealer showed me a 2014 Escape and than offer me $17000 trade for my 1 year old Focus (MSRP was around 26,000) but only if I threw in the extra set of snow tires and rims. I told him that made me happy to see that Ford also thought that this Focus was a big blue turd, if they could only offer me 9,000 less for the car after only 1 year.

I'm now looking at trading it in on a Subrau.

I seem to have electric problems, my high beams are stuck on, and I dont know how to go about fixing this, and earlier I had to replace the alternator. But i truly love the car

Well, even though I've only had this car for a few weeks now, nothing really to report, except the dome light wasn't working like it should, but the the TSB took care of that.
