I've had my 2004 Zetec ATX sedan since 7/7/2007, I'm just short of 50k miles, and the only things I've had to change from the factory are a rear power window regulator, master power window switch, and rear door lock.
Every other issue I've had has been.... err... of my own doing.

Bought my 2000 SE Auto (Zetec) new, and this model had many recalls, all of which were handled quickly and efficiently by various Ford dealerships.
In 131.000 miles I've changed my dino oil every 5K, the fuel filter annually, and the tranny fluid every 50K. On my 4th set of brake pads and changed the rear at 125K. The factory tires lasted 55K and my Pirelli's 76K. The new Kumo Solus KR-21's should last at least 80K. Replaced the alternator at 97K, and have had the key cylinder repaired twice, at a cost of $125 each time, as I didn't want to pay the dealer $500 and have two sets of keys. The valve cover gasket leaks, and I'm probably due for a timing belt R & R. My gas mileage is excellent (25 - 32mpg) and the car has been driven hard at speeds up to 105 mph. I really like this car, and hope to keep it for many more years. |

Just a lot of stuff that I should've been aware of, buying a used car.
Brake shoes & transmission flush were the most costly. I really wasn't happy about those... Oh and there was no mention of the replacement windshield which started leaking a few months after my purchase. It's all been fixed. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go. Let it go. Let it goooooo.... Now all I have to do is replace the tires tomorrow before New Year's Eve....

2009 SE Sedan (new); transmission failed @ 7,000 miles. Dealer fixed under warranty, problem resurfaced @ 10,500 miles.
Grunching sound when tranny upshifted or downshifted. Tranny would shift by itself to first gear when cruising about 50. Slammed my wife and I forward violently more than once. It also intermittently would not shift down @ uphill stop signs. Would sometimes take several seconds to shift down after stopped! Sync locked-up (firmware) @ same time as first transmission repair. Saved changes did not change anything; voice prompts turned-off did nothing. Sync updates netted failed update message/voice. I turned the above vehicle back-in to the dealer at a loss, as I couldn't have a brand new vehicle that had ongoing issues, and could/would break down at any time. I purchased a 2010 SES Sedan, loaded, in its place, as I wanted to give Ford one more chance, but if this vehicle suffers any issues, my hard-earned money will go elsewhere. Charles |

Problem List...
My 2003 FSVT EAP is at 48,000 and to date I've experienced the following issues:
(1) water pump replaced (2) thermostat replaced (3) thermostat housing (4) ignition switch replaced (5) two electrical gremlins - both times a pin had backed out of a connector Regards, Tim |
