So after buying my car new in 2004, it now has 80K miles and no major issues *knocks on wood*

-Only claim I can make regarding mfg defect is the Clutch Master Cylinder just went out last month, replaced my self.

Can't comment on brakes, suspesnion, or dampers though, that stuff hasn't stayed stock :D

Oh and the steering feel on the focus should be a benchmark for compact cars.

It's been a really a really reliable car for me.

But as a Ford Focus she does suffer from a severe lack of sex appeal. Thats about the only problem I've noticed.

The main problem I had/have is the long starts. Oh and my rear passenger window is getting off track.

I bought my 2005 ZX4 as a lease return in 2006 with 9000 miles on it. Since then I've put 44,000 on it with no problems and only regular maintenance...until last Friday. Now it's at the dealer with a transmission issue, they believe it is a shift solenoid. No warning signs before it went either. It's still under my extended warranty, so keeping my fingers crossed that all will be paid for. But something like this happens and doesn't make me less pleased with my purchase.

i think that the fofo is like all american automobiles....pretty good engine and tranny (i have 141k and still running well)

but they up the little things....panels going lose withought reason, switches failing to soon, heater fans failing too soon etc.

like my dad said "Why do you build an engine that can run on mars, but cant make a switch to get me there " or something like that

german cars rule...when not made in mexico

Its hard to turn the wheel compared to other cars and not at all a pleasure to drive. I would never have spent my money on this car. I'm very disppointed in it.
i love this about my fofo....its a nice feel to me

i drove a bunch of other similar cars and the steering is way too light

One problem so far, pane misaligned on the wiper cowl. My local dealership took care of it and I am happy. i love the tight steering of my Focus, must better than my old saturn.

Only problem I've had with my focus is the front bumper was missing a bolt. The bumper just hung a little lower on passenger side. It was covered under warranty so it was not a big problem.
