That is the Curse of Speed which has plagued me all my life. I am a slave to it. On my tombstone they will carve, "IT NEVER GOT FAST ENOUGH FOR ME." -HST

"In order to finish first you must first finish."

“If you wait, all that happens is that you get older.”
– Larry McMurty

“Racing is living, everything else is just waiting.”

“There are only three sports: mountain climbing, bull fighting, and motor racing. All the rest are merely games.”
– Ernest Hemingway

In his book The Unfair Advantage the late Mark Donohue discusses the development of the Porsche 917 Can-Am motor...a twin-turbo, 1500HP 5.4L flat-12:

Quote:
...the German Porsche engineers often asked Donohue if the motor finally had enough power. His tongue-in-cheek answer was "it will never have enough power until I can spin the wheels at the end of the straightaway in high gear."

Seems appropriate to ressurect this now...

"It seems to me that the older I get, the more running around I do with less satisfaction, just spinning my wheels, ... To come up here and just get in the car where there are no telephones and nobody to bother you, you can just run around out there and see how fast you can go. It's just fun.”
