What happened with the trans? That really sucks.

WELCOME BACK !!!

You've been missed!

Aside from the mechanical issue, how are you liking the RX ?

As far as the trans goes, it had had a little problem grinding 5th gear on quick shifts from the day I picked it up (2004 w/ 19K miles, bought in May 2007). Not too much to worry about, but it wasn't something that really worried me. But then I had some molding under the doors bulge out, then had the sunshade inside crack, and then the A/C went out. The A/C is still getting fixed this time (3rd try), but that is mainly the dealer being stupid and not really checking to see if the work they did actually fixed the problem.

As for the Tranny, as I was driving away from the dealership the last time, ecstatic to be back in my car after about a month of not being able to drive it. Revved it out to 9000 in first (redline), quick shift to 2nd, and WHAM! the clutch eats itself. Barely got it back to service. They replaced the clutch and pressure plate under warranty, but then AGAIN didn't really test it to make sure it was OK afterwards, because 2nd ground horribly if there was more than about 3500 rpm or there was any real speed in the gearbox (shifting down from highway speed). Returned to dealer again, and it's now recieving a brand new transmission, will hopefully have the car on Tuesday.

I do love driving the car though. So smooth and communicative. I don't really like the black, just because the accents it has really are attractive, and you can't see them on my car because it's black. Definitely fun to race, although I have been hamstrung with the crappy tires that came on it. Azenis at the right size are about $1000, so I kept those tires and now have a set of 285/45/18 Hoosier A6s that I will be using for next seaon. (YAYYY!!!) They will get used next season because I bought the tires at a good price (60% tread life, $300 for the set), but can't afford the wheels to put them on yet. Will be saving for those over the winter.

Just why do I have to be such a scrooge? Because I am going to have a lil racer of my own about March 2008, my first. VERY excited about that, can't wait to be a dad. Of course, he/she will be in Karts as soon as possible. Instead of saving for retirement, I'll just mold them into a F1 / CART racer and ride that gravy train into the sunset...

Also want to let you guys know that you should be really happy about this forum. The RX8 forums, and several others I have visited, aren't nearly the friendly and informative place that this is. They annoy me so much I can't even stand to read them anymore.

See y'all around...

CONGRATS to US !!

We are expecting our first in May 2008. WE call he/she "Lil Racer" as well.

How funny is that!!

AS for the F1 gig, I had the same thought until I read an article in Racer magazine.

Average cost of getting a kid a shot at the big show from 4 years onld to 19 is approximately...

SEVEN MILLION $$$$$

That was a kick in the teeth!

Anyway, glad to have you back. Would love to have you stick your head in the door and offer up your insight in the racing forums. It is always good stuff!

Take care and I hope the car issues sort themselves out!

I'm pretty over that quote. I guess I've heard too many boners saying it around here.

But racing really is great. So is heroin, though.
