i'm sure everyone will realize you got tossed in there cause the hood. like everyone said go have fun, and just compare your runs to the runs of the class you think you should fall into if you wanna see how good ya did.

The way I see it, is if I am going in to a higher class, I should be in there for a good reason (header, cams, etc.) not because of a hood..
But whatever.

Since you are in SM - ignore your PAX time (how they adjust for performance levels - you'll be screwed in SM), and just concentrate on comparing your raw times. Is there a NASA group that runs near you? They have a much simpler classing structure, and since there's usually fewer people running, you get more runs (at least here in the Mid-Atlantic region). Even though it costs twice as much, being able to attack the same course 10 times (+ fun runs!) really lets you try different lines and learn what works and what doesn't. Good luck! Bring on the weekend! |

There's BMW CCA and SCCA, but no BMW SCCA.
The reason for the hood thing is that they have to look at it like a person willing to puch to the endge of the rules. If lightweight body panels were STS leagal, you would see moneyed, hardcore guys with one piece fiberglass or bumper to bumper carbon fiber bodies. Don't worry at all about class. Just have fun.

I run street mod due to a LSD, shorter final drive ratio and aftermarket brakes (BAT Inc. front kit & SVT rears)...I'm usually a few seconds behind the other cars in-class that have forced induction. The last auto-x I attended my best time was in the high-40s and the best in-class time was a mid-38, which was a Sentra Spec V with Hoosiers and coilovers.
