Thermostat questions

My thermostat started to leak, I believe. There is coolant coming from a gold ended piece, where I believe the thermostat is. I have found these how to's:

http://www.focushacks.com/index.php?modid=59

http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homep...thermostat.htm

I am assuming they are the same for the svt as its a zetec motor.

Another question is I saw that the thermostat is 17 dollars at cfm, but people say its 10 dollars at the local parts store. Also, why are people paying 50 or 60 dollars at the dealer for the same part.

Is there a difference between the housing and the thermostat or is the same piece, or do they both break. Also where can I get a new o ring or does it come with the thermostat.

Thanks for explanations.
