New Header

I just installed a Cosworth header on my 2.0D.

Got a few questions here.

The header seems to have a VERY tight fit. There's a heatshield at the very bottom, which the header is maybe a 1/4 of an inch above if that. It's almost touching. Not sure if that's a problem.

Also...the Cosworth header only has provisions for one of the 02 sensors. I took the rear one completely out of the car. Is this going to cause any problem to the engine/gas mileage/etc. other than the check engine light? I plan to get a tune from SCT since that will supposedly make me have a much better gain.

Did anyone else replace their header with a cossie, and not feel a significant gain while untuned? I didn't feel much, and if anything I think I lost a little on the low end, but may have gained some high end.

It seems like this flex pipe is too long. My exhaust used to move around a bit on the hangers (if you moved it with your hands) now the flex pipe is such a tight fit inbetween the header and exhaust, the exhaust hardly moves when you push on it. Is this a problem??

Yes, CEL is on. I'm not worried about that, I'm going to get a tune to disable the rear o2 sensor, so the light will go away. I just need to find someone who will "skip" the visual part. I'm gonna have the heatshield back on, at least on top anyway, so unless they REALLY look they wont know.

The tune won't necesarily make it pass emissions if you don't have a cat on there... what it will do is pass the OBDII part of the test, the part where they plug up their computer to yours.

The header may have dropped your low end very slightly, but the gains are supposed to be in the higher parts from what I understand and you won't be able to feel them really.

As far as the flex pipe, it will loosen up with some use, I'm sure as long as your bolts are on and good, it'll be fine.

Yes every state has emissions except for Florida as far as I know.

The thing I want to know is if the rear 02 sensor not being there is going to cause a problem to the engine or anything, except for the CEL being on.

How do you like it so far? Did you install it yourself? Was it easy? I want a header really badly but dont want to pay to have it installed. It looks like it would be hard to snake it out of there. I'm not going to have access to a lift anymore....

You don't need a lift. It comes out of the top.

State of Minnesota do not conduct any vehicle emissions testing anymore.Instead, the agency indicates it is focused on other air pollution issues related to vehicles and driving. While the agency says these are issues and problems that could not have been adequately addressed by vehicle emissions testing, there are no specific programs or policies in place.

they dont have emissions in Mn
