Rear Hatch Creaking Over Bumps.. fix?

Since I have moved into an apartment that is fond of speedbumps, I have been noticing when I go over them my rear hatch creaks when I go over them, when the back wheels hit. I go very slowly, almost crawling over them and everytime I hear a "chu-thunk" when my back wheels go over the bump.. the hatch when closed feels somewhat loose, If I pull on the handle it will move a little bit. I noticed the same thing on another hatchback at my apartment.. Anyway to make the back hatch fit tighter? There doesn't seem to be any significant alignment adjustments for the rear hatch release.

any suggestions would be great.. i'm trying as hard as I can to keep my car rattle free, but this one is really annoying me.

Try adjusting the rubber stops near the bottom. They are threaded so you can twist them in or out. I've put a layer or two of tape on the pin that the latch catches also. Other noise could be the plastic panel on the hatch.

I had the same issue with the wagon. I sprayed lithium grease on the hinges, and it went away.
