Nelson Ledges Fun Day - June 15/22

Figured I'd throw this out there, Nelson Ledges has two Fun Days scheduled for June, one on the 15th and the other on the 22nd (both Fridays.) Since I have Fridays off all through June I'll probably be going to one of them, the cost is $120 per driver and the track does have helmets available for rent (I think they want $25 for the whole day) and they are required.

Anyone else interested? I know its on a weekday, but its well worth it...$120 may sound like a lot, but you'll get hours of wheel time. Read more here: http://www.nelsonledges.com/GOTFunDays.aspx

The 15th is out for me - headed to indy for f1. 22nd might be possible but I'm not sure what day I'm coming back from philly that week.

Not to hijack, but June 2nd and 3rd is a 2 day driver school put on by PCA. $235 for 2 days and you get an instructor. Kick ass party saturday night too.

I am supposed to be at VIR on the 15th.

However, I want to run Nelson Ledges. I hear it is a very fast track, but with lots of run off room.

Sounds like there's a lot of hassle in running there...

Quote:
A technical inspection by a qualified mechanic must be conducted prior to the event and a signed Vehicle Technical Inspection Form must be presented before your vehicle will be permitted on the track.

While BeaveRun will not be conducting its own vehicle inspection at the track, the car may be subjected to a cursory technical inspection and denied entry to the track if it does not conform to our Technical Inspection Guidelines. See our Technical Inspection Guidelines.
I'm just curious...if they aren't doing tech, then where do you go? Can just any mechanic sign off on their inspection sheet, or do they have a list of mechanics you're supposed to take your car to in the area? Don't get me wrong, it looks like it would be a fun track to go run at, but the thing I like about Nelson Ledges is the laid-back atmosphere (at least with the Fun Days.) I don't want to have to take my car to a mechanic (potentially near them, assuming they have a list of "track-approved" mechanics) and pay to have them inspect it just to go run on their track.

Sattelite image:

The tirewall is close to the track in a few spots, but for the most part its pretty open by the tight curves, especially in the direction you're likely to run off in. When we were there last November only one guy went off-track and into the wall...he had a mid-80s Lotus and did some superficial cosmetic damage to his car (I bet he was pissed though,) a few dents and a broken tail light. I had the feeling it might've been his first time pushing the car hard other than in a straight line.

Check their schedule, they have Fun Days from now until November. If you decide to go to one on another date, shoot me a PM

You like beaverun over the nelson ring? That track eats tires and brakes and until the south loop is built it's just too short.
