Question Cold air bad?

Im pretty much brand new to the whole tuning thing... I was talking to my buddy about getting a cold air intake and a cat back system for my 2.0 duratec and he said not to. He's got a zetec ... not sure what size... and he put on a regular(?) K&N intake (im guessing NOT cold air?) and a complete magnaflow exhaust. The reason he said not to go with cold air is because fords are meant to run hot and the cold air messes up the engine over time..... personally i think this is a crock... can anyone confirm... and if so then why? and if i were to do a K&N Typhoon intake with a catback 2.5 exhaust system... could you give me some pointers, suggestions or dos and donts? thanks!

it sounds like a load of bull to me.
Cold air helps any engine perform better in general. Its just more dense and more air means more fuel, which = mor power.

K&N filters do flow nice. But go out and get you a CAI and good cat back exhaust and kick his a$$ at the track. Besides just because the intake air is cooler does not make the engine run cooler.
