Petboys says its my alternator, ford says its my battery......

ok so i have problems with my car dying... i take it to petboys to get the alternator checked they said its that was the problem. than i take it to ford since petboys didnt have one. Ford services it and tells me its my battery. i get a new battery yesterday and i almost getting to work when my abs and TC turn off, also my CD player turnes off. its dead agian. when i put the new battery in the battery light turned on at idle and went away after i was in like 2nd gear. so now i dont have the power i use to have.. . Im so upset. any ideas?

check all the wiring and the vr plug before you go replacing all of that, they have a tendancy to come loose and are crap to begin with.

how should i go about checking that VR plug. and i got the battery from autozone since it was a little bit less in price.

if you gave them your old battery for the core i would doubt you would get it back, it might not be your alternator either you could have a short somewhere that is putting a drain on the battery and its not taking a change, maybe thats what the vr plug is for im not sure what that is but the only way to find out is to test it

do what impaled said my fried with a zx3 replaced alternator and battery..still had problems then we found it to be the wiring harness that goes into the alternator was bad..soo 300 bucks later a 15 dollar part solved the problem.

It's the plug oing into your alternater with the 3 wires, see if it looks like it's in bad shape and make sure it's connected correctly, also spray all your grounds and contacts with an anti corrosive parts cleaner, you can also undo your grounds and sand the contacts.

The VR it's self is in your alternator but the above mentioned plug has problems alot of times.

Quick VR plug test...

Start the car, reach back to the plug (be careful to avoid moving parts) and wiggle those wires while someone watches your battery light. If the battery light situation changes, the plug is toast.
